Junior attackman Ryan Menefee scored 6 goals to lead UCLA (4-10, 1-4) to a 10-9 victory over rival USC (6-6, 1-4).

Sophomore midfielder JR Borneman scored 1 goal with 2 assists, freshman midfielder Trevor Gudim added 1 goal and 1 assist, junior attackman Nick Peters scored once, junior defenseman Jon Jardim tallied a goal, and senior attackman Victor Poon had two assists to round out the scoring for the Bruins.

Defensively, freshman goalie Martin Alonzo stopped 12 shots, Jardim grabbed 7 ground balls, and junior midfielder Trevor Kilroy added 4 ground balls.

After scoring the opening goal, UCLA trailed by scores of 5-2 and 7-4 in the first half. The Bruins rallied to within 8-7 by halftime, and controlled the third quarter, outscoring USC 2-0 and outshooting the Trojans 10-2. The teams exchanged goals in the fourth, but UCLA was able to thwart USC's final scoring chances.

UCLA has defeated USC for the second straight year. The Bruins are now 19-4 all-time against the Trojans.

After seven weeks of practice and scrimmages, the UCLA Men's Lacrosse team has concluded a successful fall season.

The Bruins traveled to fall tournaments in Irvine, Las Vegas, and San Diego, during which the team competed against Occidental College, Cal State Fullerton, Claremont College, Pepperdine University, UC Davis, California, Cal Poly, University of San Diego, and San Diego State University.

The 2009-10 UCLA Bruins are coached by Jacques Bagley and assistant coaches Carlo Vigorito and Ben Bitonti. Senior midfielder Andrew Morris (Issaquah, WA/Issaquah HS) and senior attackman Victor Poon (Rancho Palos Verdes, CA/Peninsula HS) will captain the squad.

Defenseman Harrison Chow (Portola Valley, CA/Menlo School) and midfielder Yusuke O'Brien (Irvine, CA/Huntington Beach HS) round out the senior class. Returning juniors are midfielders Benji Rosen (Beverly Hills, CA/Beverly Hills), Darren Lepere (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny HS), and Trevor Kilroy (Granada Hills, CA/Alemany HS), and attackmen Nick Peters (Portola Valley, CA/Menlo-Atherton HS) and Ryan Menefee (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel HS). Attackman Yang Zheng (Davis, CA/Davis HS), midfielders Kyle Packan (Beaverton OR/Jesuit HS), JR Borneman (Allentown, PA/Germantown Academy), Matt Creem (Manhattan Beach, CA/Mira Costa HS), and Derek Spitters (Seattle, WA/Roosevelt HS), and defensemen Anosh Ali (Downey, CA/Downey HS), Doug Roche (Narberth, PA/Harriton HS), and Tim White (Baldwin, NY/Baldwin HS) are returning sophomores.

UCLA is also proud to welcome 10 newcomers: attackmen Brett Bowers (San Jose, CA/Archbishop Mitty), Trevor Gudim (Rancho Santa Fe, CA/Bishop's), and Cameron Howard (Newbury Park, CA/Newbury Park), midfielders Jack Nelson (Winnetka, IL/New Trier), Eric Segal (Los Angeles, CA/Beverly Hills HS), Andrew McCarthy (San Jose, CA/Westmont HS), and Joey Patterson (Tullahoma, TN/Webb), defensemen Kyle Nelson (San Mateo, CA/St. Ignatius) and Jonathan Jardim (Berkeley, CA/Berkeley HS), and goalie Martin Alonzo (Montclair, NJ/Montclair HS).

The Bruins will resume practice in January.
